Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD) Test System

Project Type: Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD) Tester

Customer: Ford Motor Company, Allen Park, MI

Dynamometer: 60 Kw AccuDyne™ AC Motoring Dynamometer

Control System: DynoLAB

Other Equipment: Engine simulation package

SAKOR Technologies designed and built a front-end accessory drive (FEAD) test system to accurately simulate the dynamic conditions experienced by engine front-end accessories (alternators, water pumps, AC compressors, power steering pumps, etc.) in a laboratory environment without the use of an actual engine. The system accurately simulates the output of an engine, including torsional transients, with an AccuDyne AC motoring dynamometer. Control and testing of the entire system, including the dynamometer and all front-end components and related systems, is automated by the DynoLAB system. The customer uses the machine to test their components in realistic conditions without the cost and complexity of maintaining and running an engine test cell.
