Small Engine AC Motoring Dynamometers

Small Engine AC DynamometerSAKOR Technologies developed its new Small Engine AC Motoring Dynamometer specifically to meet the needs of engine manufacturers who must now comply with engine testing procedures required by new emission standards contained in 40 CFR Part 1065. These new requirements apply to almost every kind of small internal engine, including those in handheld power tools and lawn and garden tools.

Our industry-leading Small Engine AC Motoring Dynamometer:

  • Can test both steady state and transient emissions cycles
  • Works on engines with either a horizontal or vertical orientation
  • Developed specifically to match very low inertia engines
  • Avoids problems reported by customers using larger dynos, which include breaking the driveshaft, couplings, and even the engine being tested

The Small Engine AC Motoring Dynamometer is a table top unit designed to sit on a lab bench. When coupled with DynoLAB PT, SAKOR’s data acquisition and test cell supervisory control system, the unit performs all types of durability, performance and emission testing. Key features include:

  • Small and compact size, measuring roughly 10 inches by 10 inches by 12 inches, weighing about 150 lbs,and generating a maximum continuous torque of 6.5 newtonmeters (N.m) from 0 – 9500 rpm
  • Specifically designed for use in engines from fractional horsepower to about 6.5 kilowatts
  • Capable of operating at speeds up to 12,000 revolutions per minute (rpm)
  • Easily convertible from horizontal to vertical orientation by one operator without assistance
  • Easily adaptable to multiple engine models
  • Line regenerative operation results in minimal electricity use, saving money and improving testing process environmental profile
